How It Works
How we’ll build your website
Bringing your project to life
What it’s like to work with me
A website as individual as your business
No two projects are alike, and that’s the way it should be. Your website is unique to you, and building it will be a unique process. I’ll work with you to figure out every detail and sort out any issues.
Below are the typical steps involved in launching a shiny new website.
How We’ll Build Your Website
All the best projects start with a good chat. We’ll have a call to discuss your vision and what you’re looking to achieve. I’ll learn about your business and customers, then we’ll talk site architecture, content, branding, hosting and all the other important stuff.
Define The Scope
I’ll go over your project goals and requirements, and give you a detailed quote, pricing and timelines.
Gathering the Content
My web design process is content first, design second. Content should always dictate design, not the other way around. There’s more info on this below which explains the reasons behind this process.
Design & Develop
I’ll come up with the most efficient structure and organisation for your website, along with page layouts that are optimised for user experience and SEO. Then I’ll add in design elements that reflect your brand and target audience. We’ll review and revise them together until you love what you see. Once approved, I’ll get to work coding your site.
Revisions & Testing
Through the development process, you’ll have access to a behind-the-scenes staging site so we can make sure everything’s looking good. We’ll then thoroughly test your site across different browsers and screen sizes before launch.
Once it’s ready to say hi to the world, I’ll launch your site on your domain name, making sure it’s secure and easy for Google to index.
After launching, you’ll get 7 days of support included for any teething problems, and I can supply ongoing maintenance too.
Bye Bye Website Worries
I won’t leave you to look after your site alone, with website maintenance plans to take away all of your tech headaches.
How I Work With Clients
I’ll ask for lots of info upfront
I’ll send you a comprehensive set of questions that will help me scope out your project in as much detail as possible.
Content first, design second
If you were to buy a generic website template, you’d be shoehorning your content into a design that wasn’t built for your business. Custom web design is the opposite: it puts your business first, so the site will be designed for your unique content. (I provide clients with copywriting guides so you know what to include on each page. And if writing isn’t your thing, I can also provide copywriting services.)
I like to keep things organised
We’ll have a shared folder for all of your website assets, and I handle contracts, invoicing etc from an online system to cut down on the number of email threads we need. Want a Slack channel for your project? No problem.
I don’t believe in silly questions
You can feel comfortable asking me anything you want to know about your project. There’s no such thing as a silly question, so ask away.
Bespoke project? No problem!
My aim is to help you with whatever website needs you have – whether it’s a new website, updates to an existing site, web hosting, email marketing, or anything in between.
If you’re not sure what you need, or don’t know how to get started, get in touch and we can chat through your options.
